KANAIMA

Our Journey

In 1999, the founders of what became Indigenous Values in Crescendo (IVC) initiated a groundbreaking musical project in Kaunwaripa, Canaima National Park, Venezuela. This project provided enriching activities for children, creating a positive and vibrant community environment through the formation of the area’s first Indigenous choir and orchestra.

Our Impact

The project expanded to include musical instruments and recorded seven music albums, preserving cultural heritage. Recognized by prestigious institutions like Harvard University and El Sistema Nacional de Orquestas de Venezuela, the project grew to benefit over 6,000 children in multiple Indigenous villages. Leadership was transitioned to local Indigenous leaders, ensuring sustainability and continued success.

Creation of an Orchestra

The Kanaima Children’s Choir and Orchestra, founded in 1999 under Raquel Acevedo’s leadership, quickly gained international recognition. Following their debut performance in 2000, the ensemble produced several albums, attracted sponsors such as Banesco Banco Universal, and began touring internationally by 2007. Their music and dedication captivated audiences worldwide, earning widespread admiration and respect.

Celebrating Milestones

In 2016, the Kanaima Children’s Choir performed at the Estadio Universitario de Caracas, captivating an audience of over 23,000 people with their powerful rendition of “Lord Transform Me.” Composed and directed by Raquel Acevedo and Daniel Gonzalez, this performance was a milestone, showcasing the choir’s exceptional talent and the profound impact of their music. The event was attended by prominent leaders and left a lasting musical imprint that continues to inspire and be celebrated today.
